Listen and sing
Press play at the top of a chant page to hear the studio recording. Just below it sits the attentional instruction — a small note on where to put your attention while you sing. That's the heart of a chant: the words are simple on purpose, so your attention can do the work.
Pick your instrument
The 🎤 microphone is the simplest view — just the words. Press the guitar, ukulele, or piano button instead and the page becomes a play-along sheet: chord names appear over the lyrics with chord boxes showing the shapes — turn on "Chord boxes everywhere" to see a small diagram beside every chord as it appears. The page also suggests friendly ways to play: open shapes for beginners, or a capo position that matches the recording exactly.
Change the key
Every voice is different. Tap − or + on the key control and the whole page follows: the chords over the words, the chord boxes, even the practice player all move to the key you choose. Sing where your voice is comfortable — the chant doesn't mind.
Learn a harmony
Many chants live in three-part harmony — a melody and two harmonies. The practice player plays all three, each in its own color, with the word being sung shown beneath. Mute the parts you don't want, slow the tempo down while you learn, drag the notes left or right to replay any phrase, and tap 8va on any voice to hear it an octave lower. When your line sits in your ear, speed back up, add the others back in, and sing yours against them.
Take it with you
Each chant has a print sheet — one page with the words, chords, and attentional instruction, ready for a music stand or a circle of friends. It follows you: whatever key you've chosen, and chord boxes if you've turned them on, print exactly as you set them. The chants are free to sing and share under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
